I have received an email with an exciting, free opportunity for Flute players in our band program! Please note, this is not a Bremen Public School activity. Students interesting in attending will need to provide their own transportation, and sign up on their own.
Here's a cut-and-paste of the email I received from the flute studio at Ball State University:
I am thrilled to invite you and your students to the 2016 Ball State Flute Day with Guest Artist, Jim Walker! The 2016 Ball State Flute Day will be held Saturday, October 1, from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm on the beautiful campus of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. We are delighted to have Jim Walker as our guest artist this year. Jim Walker is a dynamic performer and enthusiastic educator who is equally at home in jazz and classical styles. He has been principal flute of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and currently teaches at the Colburn Conservatory and t
he University of Southern California. To learn more about Professor Walker, please visit his website.
This event is free and open to anyone who is interested in participating, so please spread the word to your flute students. All Flute Day events will take place in the Music Instruction Building, 1809 W. Riverside Ave, Muncie, IN 47303. For directions, please use the BSU MAP.
The day’s events will include a flute choir reading session, recitals, a masterclass given by Jim Walker, and a clinic with Dr. Mihoko Watanabe, Professor of Flute at Ball State University. Both the flute choir session and Dr. Watanabe’s clinic are open to any participants, so encourage your students to bring their flutes.
Please visit the Flute Day website, which is where you and your students can preregister for the Flute Day, and obtain further information such as parking and a detailed schedule.
If you have any further questions, please contact me (James Thompson, 2016 Flute Day Promotional Assistant) at jpthompson@bsu.edu, or Dr. Mihoko Watanabe (Ball State University Flute Professor) at watanabe@bsu.edu.
