HS Concert Band Wins Gold at Concord, earns distinguished All-Music Award

Saturday afternoon at Concord High School, the Bremen High School Concert Band performed for the Indiana State School Music Association High School Organizational Festival.

Before an attentive audience and three judges, the band performed at the highest difficulty level (Group I), earning a gold rating from all three judges.

It wasn't over there! Afterwards, the students moved into a different room, where they were given 10 minutes to look at a piece they had never seen before, and then perform it for another judge. This is called "Sightreading," and the students earned another gold rating for their performance there.

By receiving a gold at this performance, along with superior ratings in marching band, jazz band, and solo/ensemble performances, the Bremen Band program has also earned the distinguished All-Music award for the 2016-2017 year. This award is given in recognition of excellence in all parts of a band program, and out of 736 high schools in Indiana is earned by approximately 50 high school programs each year.

These students should be extremely proud of their accomplishments. This has been a banner year for the Bremen Band program.
