Five Bremen high school students traveled to South Bend each day this week to attend the SBSO Dake Summer Music Academy, including Brooke Kertai, Jessie Jiminez, Joshua Staiger, Andrew Prawat, and Jon Blystone.
The South Bend Symphony Orchestra Donald A. Dake Summer Music Academy was created in 1998 as an outstanding, local summer camp for high school students. Now in its 20th year, and with exceptional faculty members who are professional musicians from the South Bend Symphony, the Dake Academies continue to be the region’s premier summer chamber music camp. The Dake High School Academy is designed to challenge high school students in grades 9-12 with a focus on chamber music and small ensembles. This week-long academy includes: individual and group instruction, participation in chamber ensembles (duets, trios, quartets, etc.), masterclasses, seminars, community tours, and a gala concert.
