Three students qualify for All-State Bands

Three students received notice that they qualified for the prestigious Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) All-State and All-State Honor bands today. A fourth student was named as an alternate. These bands are auditioned groups of outstanding musicians that meet to rehearse and perform a concert together at Purdue University on March 11. Auditions consist of performing a prepared set of difficult exercises provided to the students, followed by sight reading an exercise with no previous preparation.

Jeremy Prawat (9th grade percussion) qualified for the All-State Band. Jeremy is only the third student from Bremen to receive this honor in the past 12 years, and he is the first to do it so young, as only a freshman. Jeremy is one of only 7 percussionists chosen state-wide for this honor.

Joshua Staiger (11th grade clarinet) and Andrew Prawat (12th grade clarinet) both qualified for the All-State Honor Band, the highest possible honor band in the ISSMA organization. This is the first time in the previous 12 years that students from Bremen have made it into this band. Josh and Andrew are 2 of only 17 students chosen state-wide for this honor.

Finally, after only two years of study on the Bassoon, Jon Blystone was named as an alternate for the All-State band.

Congratulations to all four students on their tremendous achievement.
