On Saturday, March 3 the Bremen Jazz Band performed at two different Jazz Festivals in Indiana, receiving several outstanding honors.
First, the band traveled to Fort Wayne where they performed three pieces for the Indiana State School Music Association Jazz Festival at Concordia Lutheran High School. Our students received a Superior (Gold) rating for their performance, "with distinction," noting the particular excellence of their performance that day above and beyond the normal Gold rating. In addition, one judge gave these students a perfect score, and all 5 soloists received ribbons for their outstanding solos.
After a quick lunch, the band traveled south to Ball State University, where they performed once again for the 45th annual Dimensions in Jazz Festival. Here once again they earned a Superior (Gold) rating!
We finished this great day by watching a fantastic concert put on by the Ball State Jazz Ensemble, with special guest soloist Jeff Collins (saxophone player for the Dave Matthews Band) performing.
The Jazz Band finished off the day by attending a fantastic concert put on by Ball State's premier Jazz Band, with special guests Vincent DiMartino on the trumpet, and Chris Vadala on the saxophone.
